PWD
In Accordance with “National Policy on Education-1986” and the Persons with Disability Act-1995”, the MHRD, GOI envisaged a Centrally Sponsored Scheme in Govt. Polytechnic Sundernagar to integrate the persons with disabilities in the mainstream of Technical and Vocational Education. The scheme is facilitated by a National Institute of Technical Teacher Training and Research Chandigarh.
The scheme pivots on giving competency based Non-Formal/skill development programmes to the PWDs particularly those living in rural areas. The scheme proposes to train 25 students through Diploma programmes, over and above of the sanctioned intake.
Objective of the Scheme:-
- To promote education and training of persons with disabilities by integrating them in the mainstream of Technical Education and Skill Development programmes through Formal and Non-Formal programmes.
- To identify the persons with disabilities in the suitable geographical catchment area of the polytechnics.
- To identify suitable education and training programmes for persons with disabilities with special emphasis on Non-formal Skill Development Programmes for illiterate youth with disabilities, for promoting wage and self employment.

Eligibility of the Training:
Qualification: PAT / 10th
Eligibility: 40% or above disability
Course Duration: 3 year
Scholarship and Remuneration:
Scholarship: 250/- Per Month
Books and Uniform: 3000/- per year
Travel Allowance: 200/- per month for day scholar.
Boarding Allowance: 1000/- Per Month
